Adding Thrive Miles in Courses
While creating or updating a course, you will see toggle to enable and disable Thrive Miles in that course.
For the new course, it will be 0 as you would need to assign ThriveMiles for each topic in the next step. For the existing courses where you have already assigned the thrivemiles, it will show total thrivemiles that the user will be awared on completing the course.
Implementation Example:
To assign a total of 800 Thrive Miles to a course, the individual tasks and practices within the course need to contribute their respective points to add up to this target. Here's an example of how this could be structured:
- Video Content:
- 4 videos, each worth 50 Thrive Miles = 200 Thrive Miles.
- Audio Content:
- 2 audio files, each worth 40 Thrive Miles = 80 Thrive Miles.
- Text or File Resources:
- 3 documents or reading materials, each worth 20 Thrive Miles = 60 Thrive Miles.
- Assessments:
- 2 quizzes or tests, each worth 100 Thrive Miles = 200 Thrive Miles.
- Practice Assignments:
- 2 practice exercises, each worth 80 Thrive Miles = 160 Thrive Miles.
- SCORM Modules:
- 1 interactive SCORM module worth 100 Thrive Miles.
Total Thrive Miles for the Course = 200 + 80 + 60 + 200 + 160 + 100 = 800 Thrive Miles.
Note that Thrive Miles are awarded only when the user has completed the course and configuration status at the time of enrollment. For example -
1) When the user is already enrolled and the toggled is turned off from on, then the thrive miles wont be credited on completion of the course. You will need to re-enroll the user to award them with Thrive Miles when they completed the course.
2) When the user is already enrolled and the toggle is turned on from off, then the thrive miles will be credited accordingly as per the configurations with each video/audio/assessment/practice.
Adding Thrive Miles in Assessments
You can configure Thrive Miles in Assessments via Rules on completion of assessment based on score achived. For example - When a user receives x points in a particular attempt, award them y ThriveMiles.
If the user is being awarded multiple Thrive Miles from multiple attempts, we will only consider the highest Thrive Miles awarded in those attempts. This creates a system where users rewards keep decreasing as they attempt more and more. For example - If a user receives 100 Thrive Miles in attempt 1 and receives 50 Thrive Miles in attempt 2, then the system will only consider initial 100 as it is the highest received for the assessment.
Rank
Rank is determined by the system based on the total Thrive Miles achieved by the user against Thrive Miles of all other users. For example - Rank 5 would mean that the user has 5th highest score.
If the 2 users have same Thrive Miles, then both of them will be awarded same rank. Next rank will be sequential and won't be skipped. Therefore, top 10 rank may have more than 10 users as some of them might get same rank. For example - 3 users have thrivemiles as 100, 100 and 50, the rank is allotted as 1, 1 and 2.
Percentile
Percentile shows users performance in comparison to others whereas Rank shows the exact position for the user. For example - 85% means better than 85% of the users.
Percentile is useful when there are a large number of users and user wants to understand the relative performance on where they stand without looking at the total number of ranks.
Leaderboard
Leaderboard shows the list of all users with their Rank and Percentile, either within their Company, Department or Group.
The current rank of the user is highlighted and is always shown in the first list.
If the users have not earned Thrive Miles, they won't be seen in the Leaderboard
Leaderboard Setting
Admin can set the default view of the Leaderboard for their employees through Leaderboard setting.
Company - All employees see a single leaderboard through out the company. There are only unique rank holders.
Department - Employees see the leaderboard based on their department. Every department will have its own rank holders.
Groups - Employees see the leaderboard based on the group they are part of. Every group will have its own rank holders.
Note that if the employee is part of 2 groups, then they will see the groups in alphabetical order and the first group will be the default view.
